XRD Analysis

X-ray diffraction (XRD) is a versatile, non-destructive analytical technique that provided information about the chemical composition and crystallographic nature of crystalline materials.
Phase identification is one of the main applications of XRD, so-called qualitative analysis. XRD can also be utilised in quantifying the phases.

Filters are analysed for alpha quartz content according to Method MDHS 101, “Crystalline silica in respirable airborne dusts. Direct-on-filter analyses by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction”.
NIST SRM 1878a is used to prepare calibrations filters.
