FTIR Analysis

FT-IR stand for Fourier Transform InfraRed. In infrared spectroscopy, infrared radiation is passed through a sample. Some of the radiation is absorbed by the sample and some of it is passed through (transmitted).

The resulting spectrum represents the molecular absorption and transmission, creating an unique molecular fingerprint of the sample.
Direct-on-filter alpha quartz analysis is conducted according toMethod MDHS 101, “Crystalline silica in respirable airborne dusts. Direct-on-filter analyses by infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction”.
KBr pellet analysis is conducted according to NIOSH 7602, “Silica, crystalline by IR (KBr pellet)”.

BBE Laboratory analyses prepared pelletsor prepare, press and analyse pellets from supplied filters.
NIST SRM 1878a is used to prepare calibrations filters.
